Any Apple TV 4K (2017 or newer) running tvOS 26.5 or later, and a Plex account with access to a Plex Media Server that has movies or TV shows.

To stream while you're away from home, Plex needs a Plex Pass on the server owner's account, or a Remote Watch Pass.

Open Cable Box and choose Sign In with Plex. On your phone or computer, go to plex.tv/link and enter the code shown on your TV. Then pick your server; if you use Plex Home, pick your profile.

Each Apple TV signs in to Plex on its own. Your sign-in stays on that Apple TV.

Cable Box sets up starter channels (Comedy, Cartoons, Sci-Fi, and more) from what's in your library. Make your own in Channel Builder from genres, studios, ratings, collections, and keywords.

Every channel runs on a fixed schedule, so tuning in drops you into whatever's airing, and every Apple TV shows the same thing at the same time.

Channels with nothing in your library to air are left out of the Guide. Check the channel's rules in Channel Builder, or add a starter channel your library can fill in Settings → Channels → Add Starter Channels.

If you hid it, Settings → Channels → Show Hidden Channels brings it back. You can hide, move, and renumber channels on the Channels tab.

Swipe up or down on the remote. Swipe down to open the Mini Guide and pick a channel from there.

With Viewing Mode set to Retro (Settings → Playback), the remote works like a cable box: up and down change channels, Select pauses, and Back brings up the controls.

Yes: Settings → Appearance → Channel Change. Choose an old TV's picture rolling or tearing, with snow, light snow, scanlines, or none; Off for a black screen; or Random. With Reduce Motion on, it's always black.

Lower Settings → Playback → Quality Away From Home. At home, Cable Box streams at full quality.

Yes. Your lineup and settings sync through iCloud to every Apple TV signed in to the same Apple ID. Sign in to Plex once on each TV.

It never edits or deletes your media. Like any Plex app, it can mark programs as watched (Settings → Playback → Mark as Watched in Plex), and Report Partial Progress, off by default, saves your place in a program.

Settings → Plex Account → Sign Out removes your Plex sign-in from the Apple TV. The Privacy Policy explains how to remove your data from iCloud and Plex too.
